mount -o loop Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso /media/fedora
get to latest update of fc7
yum update -y

clean all cache..
yum clean all
d
get fedora 8 release..
rpm -Uvh /media/fedora/fedora-release-8-3.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh /media/fedora/fedora-release-notes-8.0.0-3.noarch.rpm
tweak yum.repos.d
insert this into /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo
[fedora-dvd]
name=Fedora DVD
baseurl=file:///media/fedora
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY
now for the real..
yum upgrade –disablerepo \* –enablerepo fedora-dvd
but not that smooth..
