first of all.
Setup the HTTP repository with something like the following setup ..

 
mount -o loop /home/namran/iso/CentOS-5.4-i386-bin-DVD.iso /var/www/html/centos
service httpd start

then boot of each machine with a DVD/ boot CD.
Get upto to boot menu and type

linux askmethod

wait.. till the following come up.. then remove DVD/CD from the drive. ( else it would still go to local [...]

For Redhat 5.4 or CentOS 5.4
can just add rpmforge repository ..
then do the following to the monitoring host.

yum install nagios-nrpe nagios-nrpe-plugins -y

which pretty much covered in previous post regarding nagios installation.
only need to ammend the file at

vi /etc/nagios/objects/commands.cfg

to add the following..

 
# ‘check_nrpe’ command definition
define command{
command_name check_nrpe
[...]

Not much.. just bought a printer (Canon MP198) today..

just download the necessary rpm file from canon website here.
there are 4 files as below :
For printer..
1. cnijfilter-common-3.00-1.i386.rpm
2. cnijfilter-mp190series-3.00-1.i386.rpm
I believe this this two is for scanner..
3. scangearmp-common-1.20-1.i386.rpm
4. scangearmp-mp190series-1.20-1.i386.rpm
after got that rpm files..
just :

rpm -ivh cnijfilter-common-3.00-1.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh cnijfilter-mp190series-3.00-1.i386.rpm
